Welcome to Thoughtful Thread I'm so glad you've come to visit!
Hi - My name is Judy Paiva. I am a geologist in my daytime life but I have been a "sewist" since the days of high school Home Crafts class - my favorite class. And I fondly remember that crushed velvet forest green jumper I made for my class project! Ahhh ... the 70's!
I wandered into the quilting world when my son was a baby ... he's now 43! Off and on through the years I taught myself to quilt by reading books, trial and error. No internet in those days so there were lots of errors! I've experimented in all sorts of crafts but have always come back to quilting.
It is my passion.
I have made commission quilts, memory quilts, new baby quilts, wedding quilts, lots of donation quilts and special needs quilts. But I have found in recent years that I really love to teach! I try to convey to my students my excitement and love for the art. And there is nothing more fulfilling for me to see the excitement of my students when they display a new quilt top!

I have to admit .... I am a fabricaholic! I can't resist beautiful fabric and I tend to lean towards bright and cheerful colors. My shelves are stocked and ready to go for anything you have in mind! My studio is home to 4 sewing machines and a mid-arm quilter. Why so many? Well, because you know, it's always a good idea to be prepared for any emergency!
